Kimbra Welch, Cummins Solicitors
Kimbra qualified as a solicitor in 1992, having trained at a large commercial firm (now Squire Patton Boggs – an International Law firm). She has always specialised in employment, having a particular interest and flair in that field.
Having spent a couple of years post qualification in the firm in which she trained, Kimbra left to become a lecturer (and subsequently a senior lecturer) on the Legal Practice Course at De Montfort University. She spent 4 years lecturing prospective solicitors before deciding to become an in-house solicitor at an engineering plc.
She then joined Croner Consulting as an employment expert and was asked to join the in-house legal team of its parent company, Wolters Klower. However, Kimbra always knew that she would return to private practice and joined Harvey Ingram LLP in October 2005. She was promoted to Partner in the Employment Law Group before it merged with Shakespeares LLP (now Shakespeare Martineau). She remained there for 2 years post merger before starting with a niche firm of Employment Solicitors, Cummins in September 2014.
In 2010, Kimbra was appointed a Fee Paid Employment Judge at London Central, a role which she has enjoyed since this time, balancing this with her employment practice. She has gained significant experience of handling all types of employment claims during this time, including discrimination, whistleblowing and unfair dismissal complaints.
Kimbra has recently been appointed as a Legally Qualified Chair for the East Midlands region of police forces to handle serious misconduct hearings for police officers.
